What does one say in these circumstances? What is actually appropriate? Interesting? What observations does one make? What if she is tired and does not feel like talking, if small-talk would be an actually painful thing to partake in after such travel?

The downturned gaze is not, perhaps, wholly unusual. However, when Magni looks towards her to finally say something (ask how the trip was, if she travelled well and safely) her wife's downward focus makes her shut her mouth and look ahead, swallowing uncomfortably as the doors are pulled open.

The servant at the door bows deeply to the new lady of the house, and Magni offers him a very faint smile. An older man, with tremendous grey whiskers and a manner that made him seem rather like a kindly old walrus. His eyes are kind, she had always thought, and he smiles warmly to the ladies in waiting as well, before directing another servant to go and collect the bags. He beams, really, gives Magni an encouraging nod that she probably doesn't deserve. Introductions will need to be done— oh. Slightly awkwardly, she stops.

"This is Mr Krogstad. If you or your ladies have any needs," a breath, heavy, and she lapses in terms of what she can... say.
(Krogstad has been with the family as long as she's been alive, played sword fighting with her when she was small and suffered many cruel strikes to the ankles with a good deal of patience before she advanced to actual tutelage. Comforted her after—)

Krogstad nods. "We are very happy to welcome you and your ladies here. Please consider me at your disposal, and we will all of us do our utmost to ensure you're all comfortable in your new home." A bow, respectful.

If Magni could just say yes, that, it would be helpful. Alas.
