mahalakshmi: (• he sings for you so tenderly)

She jumps, startled. Her hands dropping away from her belly. Looking like a deer caught in headlights for a moment at Magni being here when she hadn't even started to think through that half of the equation.

Did Magni even want this child? Would she even believe it was hers?

But she was here, regardless of whether Lakshmi had thought it through. Her hands trying not to reach up to touch at her own body again and keep them still. Instead opts for her tried and true nervous habit, fidgeting with the hem of her dress, biting the inside of her lip sharply.

Then nods, gesturing her to come in, and - another time, she might lead them to sit in the chairs by the fire as she often did most evenings. The room that was hers, - the small shrine set up to honour Vishnu and Lakshmi, smiling beatifically over the room, the scented candles burning in respect of them. The sort of thing she takes strength in, even now.

Not the chairs, too restrained. She needed her, needed her close, and instead, takes the spot on the edge of the great bed that was far too big for one person. Sitting on the edge of it with a hand raised for Magni to take. To lead her by it to sit beside her.
